sensXPERT Digital Mold

sensXPERT Digital Mold is an end-to-end, integrated Equipment-as-a-Service solution for the plastics manufacturing industry. The state-of-the-art technology combines advanced measuring hardware and material science with artificial intelligence to characterize material behavior in sync with machine and cavity, driving process efficiency by evaluating and controlling all critical influencing factors.

The solution supports all major composite, elastomer and thermoplastic materials, recycled materials, and associated processing techniques.

Dielectric sensors are the heart of the system. Data collected by the sensors are transferred to the sensXPERT edge device. The sensXPERT technology excels in its mathematical and physical/chemical models of material behavior and machine learning algorithms that constantly scan incoming data for patterns and deviations in the background. The algorithms translate the raw sensor data into predictive quality criteria, feeding them back to technicians, monitoring a given machine and process via a web app.

The display of all data in the sensXPERT cloud application allows plastics manufacturers to control and compare manufacturing processes across different production sites. Companies benefit from process transparency and digital component mapping. Economically, the solution achieves to decrease of up to 50% of existing scrap, 23% in energy savings and 30% cycle time reduction.

Dr Alec Redmann from NETZSCH Intruments North America

Dr. Alexander Chaloupka

Only a few people in the world share his level of composite knowledge. Dr. Alexander Chaloupka is a polymer expert at heart. After studying physics, he started his career at the Fraunhofer Institute for Chemical Technology in Augsburg at the department of thermophysical & chemical analysis and rheology. Moving to the Analyzing & Testing Business of the NETZSCH Group he continued his professional journey. With 10+ years of experience in Research & Development, Sales and General Management, he founded sensXPERT in 2021, where he is running NETZSCH’s first Corporate Venture as CTO.

Cornelia Beyer

Expect an energetic and authentic economist when meeting Cornelia. The last 20 years working in different industry sectors such as renewables, building materials, hospitality, and today in the plastics manufacturing landscape can only be described as colorful. Skilled in business launches, strategic growth, and passionate about intra- and entrepreneurship, encouraging creativity and innovation is Cornelia today running the NETZSCH Group’s Corporate Venture ‘sensXPERT’ as CEO. Her eyes light up when interviewed about the sensXPERT mission to revolutionize the plastics production landscape through a process technology that enhances productivity in real-time.

Dr. Alec Redmann

Alec Redmann works for NETZSCH Instruments developing thermal analysis technology for polymer and composite materials. His current focus is implementing solutions for in-mold material characterization and dynamic process control. Prior to joining NETZSCH, he worked in composite manufacturing and R&D roles for the wind energy and sports industries. Alec received his Ph.D. in Mechanical Engineering from the Polymer Engineer Center at the University of Wisconsin-Madison.
